Upstart Domin

I have begun to write articles for this site to let you guys know the inside scoop on Domin Gloves and what we are all about. My first article touched on my passion for gloves and why I have gotten involved with this new and exciting company. Other articles may provide information to baseball purists, or as this article does, inform readers of the progress that we are making since introducing our gloves to the United States.

Our company has made a ton of progress in the past 3 months. More and more people are becoming aware of our product and most everyone who uses a Domin is extremely excited with their glove. Here are a few things that have happened lately:

Glove Rep sales have gone up each month during the last 3 months.

Domin gloves will be introduced in 8 professional clubhouses this Spring Training. Various minor leaguers have put down their old glove for a new Domin.

We have begun to set up team sales and many different college baseball teams are interested in switching to Domin gloves in the next 3-6 months.

The product has been a hit, as we knew it would be. We can’t wait for more people to see our glove and try it out!

THE GLOVE-PLAYER RELATIONSHIP

You've heard the countless cliches, most of which parallel popular labels for deep relationships - there's "glove story," "glove affair," I've even read a newspaper article entitled "I Glove You." One thing I've noticed at every level of baseball is the special relationship formed between player and glove.

And why not? Excepting the fact that you are not Ichiro, who meticulously monitors his bat's humidity levels in a specially-formulated humidor, the glove is the most personal and specific piece of equipment a ballplayer owns and uses. Broken-in to precise standards, oiled, carefully handled (negate multiple-error games here), and position-specific, the baseball glove truly is an extension of the hand.

I've always had a passion for gloves...as a middle infielder from Little League all the way on up to the NCAA's Southeastern Conference, you could've asked me at any point what model Roberto Alomar uses? SSK, PRO-ALM-C, 11.25". Ozzie Smith? Rawlings, PRO-2MTC, 11.50". Omar Vizquel? Tougher because it is a discontinued model, but nonetheless, Rawlings, PRO-15XOT, 11.00".

I also share the same enthusiasm for the exotic and unique. Miguel Tejada's first model? Milk Carton. That's awesome. A multi-colored Puerto Rican-made glove I saw while playing there? Even better, I wanted to play shortstop like everyone I saw down there.

While the revolution in wooden baseball bats has extended opportunities to countless companies in recent years, the baseball glove market seems to be moving in a similar direction. It isn’t easy to produce a high quality baseball glove. There are all these new technologies out there, but I just want to see some more attractive gloves with reliable and durable leather. That’s where our new glove company comes into the picture. We at Domin are a group of baseball professionals who pay attention to creating elite gloves for serious players. Our passion is to put a glove on your hand that you will love. We will be updating you on the progress of our company, along with adding articles like this one that you just read.
