DOMIN GOES INTERNATIONAL

It’s not hard to see the remarkable success that Major League Baseball has enjoyed as a result of its efforts to globalize our national pastime. Here you see a picture of Teperman Academy in the Dominican Republic with their Domin Gloves. While the 2006 World Baseball Classic certainly saw more than a handful of nations showcasing their baseball prowess, the presence of MLB offices and developmental academies throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia may offer a better example of just how important a role the international scene plays in baseball’s future. As of April 2007, just under 30% of all players appearing on Major League rosters were born in foreign countries, and an astounding 46.2% of all minor league rosters consisted of foreign-born players as well. From the Dominican Republic to Japan, from Australia to Holland, the game today is one that features a distinctively international flavor.

As MLB expands across the globe, Domin Gloves are right there with it. Entering just our third year, we have experienced a great deal of success in marketing our products beyond the United States. Domin has long been a favorite among professional players in Mexico, and with the rising popularity of our glove line within the amateur and professional ranks of the United States, it comes as no surprise that some of our international friends have jumped on board to experience the quality products that we offer. Having secured several deals in Holland, Europe’s top nation for producing professional players, we have also begun to spark the interest of some of Australia’s finest ballplayers.

Wherever we go, the one constant that seems to hold true is the attraction to the Domin Glove. In foreign countries, baseball equipment is often two or three times as expensive as it is in the United States. What international players see is a quality glove with a nice aesthetic appeal that won’t leave you with an empty wallet, and as sales representatives we really do not need to put forth a great deal of effort into marketing a glove that basically sells itself. We have recently expanded our line to include gloves for first basemen and catchers, and we are excited about what lies ahead. As with Major League Baseball, the globalization of Domin Gloves appears to hold a bright and prosperous future!
